Thanks Han, I plan to include it in the next update.

For all I could tell, th etras2.rsrc is the same between 10.6 & 10.7 so I simply used my already modified file. I used themepark to edit it originally.
EDIT : files sent to Max

thanks so much for this; i tried the menubar i used previously, with disastrous results; did a web search, found an old thread, and chased that...and found this. perfect!
hi all..so, there are really no ways to change the clock colour in white without installing istat? i don't really want to install it.
Dunno if there are any anywhere, but anyone know of an alfred and fantastical white icon for the menubar? any help would be appreciated :)

Also Max, beautiful as always. Your work is always appreciated! Thank you for all you do for the Mac community!
Thank you Max, it worked perfect for me. I appreciate that you took the time to make and upload this.

Vip, here's the white icon I'm using for Alfred, hopefully it helps you out.

Here are two free alternatives that you can try:

I don't know how to change the default text color. If someone figures it out, I'd be thrilled to include it in the installer.
Hey Max, I just now noticed on the Lion LogIn screen that the time and the wifi icons are white .. so dunno if you could look around in there, might help with the main toolbar.
I really love this menubar, however I always get too frustrated looking for white replacements. I'd make my own but it seems I can never find where the menubar icons are stored. I've looked in the respective Contents/Resources/ directories, but can't seem to find them there. Maybe I'm going crazy, but I could have sworn that some of the icons switched to white without my intervention--is this something you built into Obsidian, Max?

As an alternative, I stumbled across Nocturne (probably mentioned on here at some point...). It's available from Google Code and free and works with Lion (see my screenshot below). It accomplishes the black menubar by inversion, therefore you get more of a grey to black gradient but at least all of the icons are white and you don't have to hack the clock to get it white. The downside (besides the gradient) is that if you use the aqua appearance, you're highlight color on the menubar is a pastel purple. The best way around this is to go with graphite, but does anyone know of a way to hack the appearance colors?

It would be nice if Apple just worked in a black menubar alternative as they did when they introduced the transparent menubar... :D

My contributions to this:

I use this for Playback Media Server, but thought it could be used for any of the various media servers that go in the menu bar.

I put together a small template with the different states of the menu bar icons:
www.maxthemes.com/downloads/Obsidian%20 ... mplate.zip

@bgison72 - Nocturne is a good alternative that doesn't require replacing system resources. The result is a bit different looking of course. I thought about adapting Obsidian Menu Bar to work with nocturne. If I make the change to the resources to account for the inverted look, I think I could make it look like Obsidian.

Btw, I heard there should be an option to rotate the hue, that way the Blue & Graphite color should stay the same.

I decided to write a small clock application that goes nicely with this theme. It's very simple, free and and does pretty much the same as the original clock, but you can also change the color of it. Get it from my blog. If someone feels like creating an icon for it I'll be happy to add it to the app.

Wow, I'm impressed that you wrote an app just for this particular theme :D:thumbsup:

If I could request a feature, it would be to change the font size. I also think the pressed state should always give the clock text a white color. Could I bundle this with the theme? Or provide a link perhaps.
@Laterix Wow, now that's an attitude! Thanks a lot!!
very cool that someone took the time to write an app for this. however, i must mention MenuCalendarClock. it works in conjunction with ical (or entourage), and although it is listed as shareware, you don't need to buy/register it to use most of the features (nor will it ever prompt you to do so). you can change the font size/color/type, and it also includes 3 different calendar icons to choose from. i've been using this for years and years as a replacement for the menu bar clock, as well as a way to quickly check my ical schedule, and i highly recommend it.

@Laterix Thanks for this. I personally love this because it's JUST a clock ... nice and simple! I have one tiny request: Is it possible to make it command+dragable to put it beside the spotlight icon?
Ok, now I want to switch back to Obsidian :D

Can someone please let me know where to find menubar icons other than the system icons? For example, when I show package contents for Facebox, I see three different color variations for the icon, but I can't seem to locate the file that specifies which is used...and some of my menu icons I can't locate at all...Is there a guide for this? I've tried searching, but I think I'm just searching for the wrong thing.

Sorry to ask...still learning.

Thank you very much! This work is very pleasing to me.

Well, some apps do have multiple states for the menu bar. PlayBack Media server for instance has 2 icons for on and 2 for off, each of those has selected or not selected.

Also, with PlayBack, the actual menu is in an app inside the app. SO, you may have to "Show package contents" more than once, depending on where the icon for the menu resides. Basically, do not just assume that the icon is always in the root of the "Content/Resources" of the first .app you right click on ... hunt around and you should find the menu icon.

Font support has been added now. You can find the new version from my blog.

Unfortunately I was unable to find a resonable way to change the text color when the menu is selected. But I think it's a minor issue, since users usually set the format once and stick with it.

@Manyk: I would like to be able to drag and drop the clock too with CMD, but there's is no way to do that since Apple doesn't provide the API for it. You can only drag and drop Apple's own status items since they all are executed in one process.
@Max: You can provide a link or bundle it. I don't really care what people do with it :) I just created it to be used.

Thank you very much! This work is very pleasing to me. Could you please also include the original files & the path to where to install them? Such as Applications/Name.app/Contents/Resources/

Here is a contribution from me

Max, if you liked and can add this as individual packs under installer
