5) Follow Plizzo's guide on page 1 to convert FONT00.ttf (Helvetica) and FONT01.ttf (HelveticaBold). You can optionally port the other fonts above. Make sure to copy your generated FONT00.TTF and FONT01.TTF files back to the ttsdk/ttc folder.
Note that fonts whose name have a "." prefix do not appear to be used by iOS 4 so I did not list them.

6) Use MAKETTC to re-combine all 9 fonts. Remember to re-mount the C drive in DOSBox if you closed out.
Code:

C:> MAKETTC HELVETIC.TTC FONT01.TTF FONT02.TTCF FONT03.TTF FONT04.TTF FONT05.TTF FONT06.TTF FONT07.TTF FONT08.TTF

7) Rename HELVETIC.TTC to Helvetica.ttc. That's it!

im stuck in that steps. please help? anyone? :-!
Nevermind, I got it.

Just an FYI

For the iPhone 4 on iOS4.1 you need to change...

Helvetica.ttc -> FONT00.TTF & FONT01.TTF
HelveticaNeue.ttc -> FONT04.TTF & FONT05.TTF

I been seeing people say that you need to change HelveticaNeue.ttc -> FONT02.TTF & FONT03.TTF which may be the case if you are using iOS4.0 & iOS4.0.1 files but if you are using the font files from iOS4.1 then you need to change the fonts listed above.

friend and I check? that the FONT05.TTF weigh very little (approximately 31KB)
please do not spread incorrect information. i am currently having no troubles with iPhone4 on 4.1 using the original templates and fonts. also, there is no FONT05.TTF in the 4.1 version of HelveticaNeue.ttc (it only has 4 fonts). post #123 has all you need for porting HelveticaNeue.

padhg wrote:FYI, just found out that iPhone4 SpringBoard uses HelveticaNeue.ttc (specifically "Helvetica NeueUI" and "Helvetica NeueUI Bold"). The HelveticaNeue.ttc can be ported exactly the same way as Helvetica.ttc above.

i've added the extracted HelveticaNeue.ttc file to my template pack linked above. edit FONT02.TTF and FONT03.TTF inside the HelveticaNeue folder and repack the HelveticaNeue.ttc:

Code: Select all
> MAKETTC.EXE HNEUE.TTC FONT00.TTF FONT01.TTF FONT02.TTF FONT03.TTF

when that's done done just rename HNEUE.TTC to HelveticaNeue.ttc

friend where is the link of the Helvetica fonts NeueUI "and" Helvetica Bold NeueUI to carry them, and I drag a file HelveticaNeue.ttc BREAKTTC.EXE, but if I drag this file generates 8 ttf.
If you're getting 8 fonts, I believe you're extracting Helvetica.ttc and not HelveticaNeue.ttc... unless apple changed something with 4.2.1.

Drag the file is tieneque HelveticaNeue.ttc on Breakttc EXE? because that's what I did HelveticaNeue.ttc file extracted from my iPod4 and if I get the 8 files.
nvm, i realized you're using the 4.1 version of HelveticaNeue, which changed from the 4.0 version. 4.0 ports/templates still work fine in 4.1 (i've had 0 problems in several months of using 4.0 fonts), but if you're extracting your own files and editing them then you'll need to make sure you're editing the right files (Helvetica NeueUI) to change the springboard fonts. to see the name, just look at the metadata of the "FONT??.TTF" when you open it in your font editor.

friend in the post 123 does not see any link to download the fonts to hold, could you give me?
try the iOS4 template pack in #112. #123 was just a quick update to say that the steps in #112 also work for HelveticaNeue.ttc.

Thanks Brother now and I can carry the 2 sources! Heveltica and hevelticaNeue! Thank you very much! This work is very pleasing to me.! =D
I've tried padhg's guide from page 5, but I can't seem to get it working. The font I'm trying to port is this:
http://www.dafont.com/tf2-secondary.font
I can't get the break or makettc things working in DOSbox. Anyone who can help?

@Immelmann put the "BREAKTTC.EXE" and "MAKETTC.EXE" files inside the "ttc" folder.
Can someone upload me somewhere the original iphone 4 Helvetica Neue font and LockClock please? Thanx ill really appreciate it .
@Kubecra1n #112
Thanks, that worked :)
Thanx :D
My FontLab Studio generates a font up to 99% then hangs. What im i doing wrong?
Harrelson wrote:My FontLab Studio generates a font up to 99% then hangs. What im i doing wrong?

it happens quite often. just save, generate... when it hangs close fontlab, reopen the same file and generate again. it'll work the 2nd time.
I have ported several fonts and quite liked Avant Garde Gothic Condensed which im keeping but have a nagging problem with it

As the screenshot shows, its fine everywhere apart from displaying numbers correctly in Calculator.app and Phone.app

Ive gone through the porting procedure with a toothcomb and matched my glyps to the original font before copying. Any ideas how to cure this problem?

@Harrelson do the procedure in this post that i described for celticmagick for both your PhonepadTwo.ttf and LockClock.ttf. i do that everytime to regenerate the ascender/descender/x-height/etc... values for those 2 fonts.
thanks padhg, that worked brilliantly! :-X
