I like this a lot, congrats on the release!

Deducted in the next topic Glass, which is still impossible to remove without directly editing the file / System / Library / PrivateFrameworks / MobileIcons.framework / AppIconMask@2x.png the folder com.apple.mobileicons.framework / I added this file, but nothing happens.
I've done quite a bit of work on this today. Many thanks to Stylus for sharing his PSD with me. Stylus, if you think this is acceptable, please put the download link in the first post.

Changes

- Default AppStore apps now correctly resize
- AppStore and Cydia apps now are the same size
- Created 2 separate templates for Cydia and AppStore apps. AppStore icons are slightly larger and should not have a shadow.
- Changed the folder background to a blank icon. Please feel free to use the Cydia template to make and post other folder backgrounds!
- Added a default compass icon (hope it's acceptable, feel free to give feedback).
- Resized the notification badge.
- Added transparent PNG's to remove the wallpaper gradient overlay.

Preview
Please excuse the calendar date alignment, I'm not using WinterBoard. The My TSA app shows you how a default AppStore icon is resized. Unfortunately the gloss can't be removed, but at least it's the right size!

Replace these 2 files in the Matte WeatherIcon HD theme's com.apple.springboard bundle if you use WeatherIcon:

If your Matte Nano icon is getting gloss applied on it, you have to edit 2 files for each app:

Add this line to the app's Info.plist:
Code: Select all
<key>UIPrerenderedIcon</key>
<true/>

And inside the numbered folder in /private/var/mobile/Applications is an iTunesMetadata.plist:
Code: Select all
<key>softwareIconNeedsShine</key>
<false/>

After setting the values in both plists, you have to clear the icon cache and respring, then clear the icon cache and respring a second time. After that your icon will be gloss free.

The universal way is to make a transparent AppIconOverlay@2x.png (118x120px) in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileIcons.framework. I forgot to include this in my package above, I'll put it in with the next release.
Need help here. I downloaded the theme to my desktop. How can I upload it to my i4 & activate the theme?

Many thanks. :)
Update, all say thanks padhg :D
@mrsaws There's a lot to cover, so I'd refer you off site. You can google "how to install winterboard theme" (you should get a ton of tutorials) or just start with the one dsg posted here.

edit: more icons...

Love the theme! Thank you very much! This work is very pleasing to me.

I have a question about getting the 3rd party apps to show up using the bundles method. When I create the new directories under the bundles folder of the theme itself and put the icon into that directory the icon stays the same after respring. Is there some place else I have to do it at or is there something simple I may be missing? I'm new to this so apologies if this is a lame question.

I thought this, you have to reboot not respring for the icons to skin :)
you need to clear the icon cache to get changed icons to show up. you can do so in the following ways:

1) Delete /private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.IconCache and respring
2) Inside Winterboard, unselect and reselect your theme and use the respring button in WinterBoard

That worked like a charm! Thank you very much! This work is very pleasing to me.

@khmerunited Inside the com.apple.springboard bundle should be a tranparent WallpaperIconShadow@2x.png and WallpaperIconDockShadow@2x.png, these transparent files will remove the default iOS4 shadows on your icons.

@b33lz3b0t i think you used the cydia template instead of the appstore template for the dropbox icon... AppStore icons shouldn't have a shadow or they'll show up with back borders. If you did use the right template, make sure to turn OFF the drop shadow effect on the base. The correct shadow is applied when iOS mashes the icon with the AppIconShadow@2x and AppIconOverlay@2x images in the com.apple.mobileicons.framework bundle. very sharp icon though!

@padhg/@Stylus: why are the appstore icons slightly larger than the default (first party) icons and cydia icons?
looking at the vector mask on the templates, appstore icons a a few pixels bigger all the way around

EDIT: added Clock-alt icon

Basically I did it so that AppStore and Default/Cydia icons would both render at the same size on the SpringBoard. I don't know why but when the AppIconMask was exactly the same size as the Default/Cydia base, then the AppStore icons appeared 1-2 px smaller on SpringBoard. Not really noticeable, but I was a perfectionist and wanted everything uniform. After trying 22 different combinations, I came up with a slightly larger AppStore icon mask and 2 templates.

If you include the shadow on any AppStore icon, it will be rendered against a black base which is not transparent. Since they already get a shadow from the MobileIcons.framework, you should not have a shadow on any AppStore icons. Default/Cydia apps don't get the MobileIcons.framework effects so you need to render the shadows on those. Again, 2 templates was the best solution.

UGH! I just realized the AppStore template/mask is still wrong (i bumped it out 1px too far on the right side). Sorry to do this, but if everyone could hold off on filling icon requests for a day or so while I fix it... it'll save you from having to re-do the icons in a new template.

I hope to get the fix and new template up tonight.

edit: here's the problem (notice how the icon overlaps the white line)

edit 2: v3 is out!

Matte Nano HD v3

Changes

v3
- Fixed issue with AppStore icon mask and template (sorry, you'll have to re-do any 3rd party apps in the new template)
- Re-rendered iBooks icon in correct template
- Move AppIconOverlay@2x.png to the correct bundle

all of my icons above have been redone with templates, so you can re-save them.
Padhg, I can't thank you enough. This is my favorite theme (ever since my iPod Touch 2g/1g), I am sooo happy. I have a lot of icons, can't upload right now. I will do when I get the time.
