thanks for pointing it out, but you don't have to be a d**khead about it

Calm down. I don't know if the above way works, but it's not what's in the Readme. I have tried the Readme, and it works.

And yes, com.saurik.WinterBoard is the correct name, but the icon is still called icon.png and not icon@2x.png.

So, sorry if I sound like a lemonhead, if you prefer I will simply not answer and leave you to find the solution yourself.

the readme isn't the bible. if there is a better and easier way maybe we should try it? #51 works and it's a hell of lot easier. so you can keep your "RTFM" to yourself from here on.
Calm down :)

I read about both methods, but I'm unsure how reliable the folder method is? Basically they accomplish the same things, but the Folder method is - as I understand it - a shortcut.
xtrem wrote:why isn't this working for some apps?

for biteSMS i created /Themes.xxxxxx/Glashklart HD.theme/Folders/biteSMS.app/icon@2x.png

but when trying to do the same for example WinterBoard (/WinterBoard.app/icon@2x.png), nothing
Even .../Bundles/com.saurik.WinterBoard/icon@2x.png isn't working

I think it's not working because Winterboard does not have a high resolution icon to begin with. This is a limitation with the bundles method and something I hope Saurik will improve so that we can proved a high res icon, even when there isn't one in the actual app.

In the meantime, you can theme the Icon.png, but with double sized pixels as a result…

Someone's hurt easily :)

I apologize, I did not think someone on a forum would be so easily pissed off.

I wonder: Does anyone else have the OpenSSH bug with the iPad which causes the screen to be off calibration? Right now I am doing everything with iFile, because OpenSSH will supposedly cause this uncalibrated state.

If someone has the same problem, is there a solution?

As long you have the correct icon-file (icon.png/Icon.png or icon@x2.png/Icon@2x.png, it seems to be case sensitive) it's a quick and smoother short cut. Works 100% for me.

But, I think there might be a case where applications are named the same. In the iPhone's file structure, the applications are never in the same folder and their names does not have to be unique. However, if every icon made used this shortcut method, there would (most likely) eventually be icons with the same name.

This is not true for the bundle identifier method since that string has to be unique. Therefore I think I will continue to recommend the bundle identifier method. It has to be viable in the long run, even if it requires slightly more effort.

Of course this method is more cumbersome than the previous method of just naming it after the icons on the springboard. But the previous method led to many misnamed icons, international names that doesn't show & problems with apps with same names.
I must be an idiot...
Then drop the "com.apple.mobileicons.framework" folder inside /Library/Themes/Glasklart HD.theme/Bundles/ and replace it.

Where am I finding the original com.apple.mobileicons.framework folder? Or is that another name for /MobileIcons.framework/ folder?

Sorry for my stupidity...

Never mind.... I figured it out. Not enough coffee this morning I guess.

Is there a way to search just this thread, not the whole forum for icons? I don't want to double submit.
Regarding the Folders method, it works just fine, just be sure to the the app name right and it should be ok. Also only name icon@2x.png or Icon@2x.png if you know for sure the app have been updated to high res from the appstore, otherwise find out the icon key and see what the name is.
@Max: it doesn't matter if the icon isn't updated to high resolution yet. As long as it's named right it'll work just fine with a high res, themed icon. I've done at least 5 that's did perfect, including winterboard.

Really? Using the bundle identifier or folder/name.app method?

I know it does, I'm just concerned if will scale well when this theme also contains 6000 icons (if it ever becomes that popular). This is the chance to get it right, so I don't want to encourage a method that doesn't work in the long run.
Cydia has approved Glasklart HD and is available for download now.

So far it works for every theme that i've tried. I've done it on classica 3 from another thread on the forums. I think it's much easier to doing it this way rather then have to download the plist for every app.The only problem with this method is that you still have to know for sure what the app is call inside the directory, for example, Fruit Ninja is not call Fruit Ninja.app but just Fruit.app, but since either method require you to go through the UserApplications process anyway, this save you the hassle of downloading the plist and scan through it, and since you're in that app folder, you can also find out what to appropriately name the icon too.

Bundle Identifier.

Not sure if every one of these hadn't been updated to high res yet, but I at least know a few were. They're all fine now with the high res Glasklart icons.

This is what I got so far, thanks for a great theme, if anyone like, i can upload my folders file

Btw using the folders method will also give you hi-res icon, as long as the icon itself is hi-res

I get your point, but I'm not sure you get mine. I understand it's easier, but you still have to navigate to that folder in the file structure. So rather than taking the easy route, I think it's a lot more future proof the get the unique bundle identifier rather then the app name. Like you mention, Fruit Ninja is called "Fruit.app". I'm willing to bet there must be at least 5 more apps called "Fruit.app". This means you can only theme the icon for one of those apps. You are welcome to continue using the folder method of theming, but I think I will continue to recommend the bundle identifier method unless someone proves me wrong in what I'm saying.

Interesting, I suppose I must have done something wrong when I tried it. I couldn't get the icon for Fieldrunners to work, for example. Maybe it's because they had a non-standard name for their icon.

Hmmm yea I got your point, very interesting. I suppose with enough apps and users, we'll see which method will be better. I'm just glad there are different ways of doing this.
