SysPref icon set

I wanted to make a full system prefs icon set because i've never seen anyone completely overhaul the System Preferences icon set.
I meant for them to be bigger, but i stupidly made all of them before testing, so these are a little smaller than i hoped...
Yeah, they are supposed to look like iPhone icons. It keeps it neat and organized, imo.

This is the first major project i've worked on, so feel free to criticize, point me in the right direct, on just plain tell me they suck.

(drag to tab bar for fullsize, which isnt much larger, but makes it less fuzzy because its not resized)
I plan on doing the rest of the PrefPanes if there is any interest in this.

I'm not a big fan of the gloss, it looks too much like the iPhone…

I agree. Nice icons, but no thanks to glossy.

This is a cool project.

I think the border on the spaces icon is a tad too wide, but other than that, I'm liking it.

Out of curiosity, where are these files located?  A quick look through System/Library/CoreServices returned nothing and that is where I figured it would be.  Also looked in Applications/Utilities/ and System/PrefPanes (Not sure why I thought it would be in there but I checked anyway)

Theyre inside the prefpane file itself i believe. I just checked Geektool and that was so.

/System/Library/PreferencePanes

Right click each and open it up then go to Contents/Resources and theres an ICNS in there.

I've put together a few more polished matte (contradiction? lol) set i'll put up a preview in a minute.

Ach… I’m actually working on something very similar… I guess great minds think alike then.

Anyway, there’s two main things I can think of to improve:
1. The drop shadows look rather heavy & blurry. I think you should tone them down a bit.

2. The icon glyphs lack definition. A lot of them look slightly blurry, and not pixel-aligned. At the small size of these icons, I think sharpness is of utmost importance.

Oh wow.  I cannot believe I didn't think of that.  x_o  I figured that they would be in the contents of the System Prefs app.

Thanks. smile

Re: SysPref icon set

I've trashed all of them and started over thanks to a few pointers from dyfolio, though i kept the style as much my own as i could so both our sets dont look the same.
I've kept the glossy iPhone thing going on, if you dont like that i would suggest you try out dyfolio's set when its done (they are gorgeous).
Anyway, heres the new preview:

Click for fullsize.

Im not 100% on the security icon. Its supposed to be a dial on a safe, but it seems like i could make it better somehow.
Im a vintage audio geek, so i love how the Sound icon turned out. I must say i'm pretty proud of the EnergySaver icon too, its probably my favorite.

Criticism is encouraged, i like hearing people's opinion even if you just want to tell me they look like junk smile_worried

Going by that, I would like to say that the Displays and Mouse icon are a bit on the ugly side. Also, the Dock icon is a bit too normal. And on that note, I'd also like to say that the others are going well. I especially love your sound icon.

Re: SysPref icon set

I forgot i hadnt updated my progress here in a while.

The latest set:
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a93/canada2113/Forum%20Stuff/Screenshot2009-10-16at34935PM.png

Not half as awesome as Dyfolio's, but its the first major project i've completed, so im happy about that.
Suggestions are still welcome.

Does anyone know how to make an installer/uninstaller? I have all the files and i know where they go, i just dont know how to automate the backup/replace process.
