Hate to bump this thread but when i download Fontlab studio from their website i can't extract the hqx file. I've tried a lot of times and i've tried the different servers.
Stickies are un-bumpable :P
I had a look around and a few people said Stuffit Expander works with hqx files.
if you open up a font ported for 2.x firmware and simply change the upm size to 2048 will that make it work with 3.x firmware, or do you have to REport the entire font?

Still needs to be 1000.
Nothing changes, 2.x basically = 3.x
Is someone else havin trouble with the allignment of ported font from 2.x? The baseline seems to be to high.

Um… no.

Yep, same problem.

I've been meaning to ask Plizzo how to get fonts working on 3.0, but he lives in a different time zone and is always asleep when I want to ask him! :P

Perhaps he will update the guide soon...

Uh, yeah, how come fonts work perfectly for me then?

Go into music, and play a song. Look at the song info at the top, it'll be too low on the bottom row. The springboard allignment is fine, but in other places it is not. Or look at the words ON and OFF on one of the switches in Settings. Numerous places are messed up, and what we are asking Plizzo to do is explain how he made Calibri work fine on 3.0, when all of our attempts to make a 3.0 font have failed.

EDIT: And if somehow your fonts ARE working, please zip up whatever font your using and upload them for us to try out

Everyone: I have ported many fonts and never experienced any misaligning at all. I dont really know why you all are having such issues. I'll try to update the guide tonight for 3.0 :)

That's appreciated! Thanks.
No big changes but the tutorial has been updated. :)
I'm working on a new server for my website and I will also keep my repository there, once I get everything set I will have free fonts on there which I ported. :)

Thanks. Can someone please upload the 3.0 Version of Marker Felt thin. Thanks.

Edit: Saw, that the link on page one was even updated..... ;-)

The Marker Felt ist still on 1000upm. So changing only Marker Felt and replace the others with the Winterboard info.plist thing is not working anymore, because of the different sizes. Right?
Helvetica - Use 2048 UPM
HelveticaBold - Use 2048 UPM
LockClock - Use 1000 UPM

Markerfelt - Use 1000 UPM on both.

Hope this clarifies some, so for the ones using 1000 UPM you need to change the value of the original font to 1000 UPM and scale according to the UPM.

Phew, many UPM :P
I keep trying to port fonts, and I still get them misaligned every single time. I followed you directions exactly… I think. What should I do when this popup appears after changing the UPM size?

Should I check the box or not?
I didn't ever check that box and it worked out fine for me but I believe it might be worth giving a shot for your sake. I'll be going through my tutorial tonight again step by step and see how the result turns out. I'm sorry I missed you on MSN Josh.
@Plizzo: Some kind of help (perhaps)...

I've tried to figure out, where something differs on the known method (except the UPS size thing). So I too the original helvetica and just got a look on Quickview and it looks like this (good):

Image

The I opened the font in FonLab and just did an export the usual way (without changing anything) and (surprise) it look like this:

Image

Different. Right? ;-)

Then I opened the original helvetica from 2.x and realized, that the metrics for the ascender has moved from:

Image

to

Image

this is, where I expected the middle-lenght (or x-lenght) who moved as well - as you can see in the screen shots.

Perhaps this will give you an idea, what could be wrong. I will further try some stuff and let you know, if can I figure out something....

best regards....
Me again: Change the following setting seems to resolve the issue. Please can You doublecheck and verify this....

Image deleted.....

(nope...was the wrong way)

If you are still getting a font like this:
Image

This is how you fix it
, open it back up and change all the values to this:
Image

Then your font will fix itself and it will look like this:

That did the trick. THX!
@Tjdyo: An aditional question. Are they iPhone specific metrics, or can I play with them?
prof_hastig wrote:@Tjdyo: An aditional question. Are they iPhone specific metrics, or can I play with them?

Yes, they should be the exact measurements or atleast very very close. ;)
