The Secret Santa is an anonymous gift exchanging activity. Basically, you will be making a present for someone and receiving one from someone else. The catch is that you know who you are giving it to, but not who is giving it to you.
In our case, since we are a customizing forum, we will be dealing with what's meant to be unique to all of us - our avatar.
Only those who sign up in this thread will be able to take part in it. If you intend to do so, read this thread carefully.
First of all, here are some things you should be aware of:
* You can only receive one gift, no greedy heads.
* To sign up, you must reply to this thread with "Count me in" or something along those lines. Any message without a clear response will be ignored.
* When signing up, please put a couple of facts about yourself. What you like or dislike, hobbies, or whatever you think that would help the gift making.
* Please only sign up if you are 100% sure you will be able to make something for your partner. If you sign up and do not deliver anything by the due date, your avatar/status will be changed. You will then be forbidden to change that avatar until the new year. Be considerate and think about your partner. How would you feel if you didn't get a gift yourself?
* Anyone revealing their partner in any way (posting who your partner is, or telling your partner you are creating something for him/her, etc) will be disqualified and their avatar put in a draw at the end of event for those people whose partner FAILED!!
* The sign up starts today (06 Dec 2008) and runs for 7 days. Once that period is over no more participants will be accepted. Shortly after the sign up is over, you will receive a PM with the name of the person you have to create for. Then you will have until December 22nd to finish your gift. Once you are done with yours, please PM me the gift and your partner's name, so I can organize the whole thing before Christmas.
If you have any questions feel free to ask in this thread or PM me
Q&A
What is this gift?
The gift is basically the little picture under someone's name along the side of the forum, usually a 90x90 image.
I will be away for Christmas, Can I still participate?
Sure. You do not have to deliver the gift exactly ON December 22nd. You can send it in as soon as you are done - actually we recommend everyone to do this. So as long as you can deliver it on time, you are good to go.
How are you going to pick the partners?
First I will be assigning everyone a number according to the order you sign up. Then we will be running this through a random sequence generator.
Can I create an avatar for someone that is not my partner?
Sure, feel free to make extra gifts, but focus on your partner's first. All left over avatars will be given to those unfortunate to have their partner disqualified.
Can i choose who i create an avatar for?
No, that'd defeat the object of the gift giving.
Can I use MangaYourFace or some other online avatar generator?
No, no, no, no, no, and no!!! The point of this event is to get everyone unique again. So no using avatar generators or ripped icons. Anyone who does so will be disqualified.
