I made this a while back and posted it on http://wakaba.c3.cx/sup/kareha.pl/1151796773/402 as a proof of concept, trying to get something like it into the actual release. But anyway, might as well give it to the community.

Download The Unarchiver HUD NIB Resources

Installation notes:
- Backup original NIBs
- Put WaitView.nib and ProgressView.nib into "The Unarchiver.app/Contents/Resources"
- Put MainMenu.nib into "The Unarchiver.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj"

Known Issues:
- Resizing The Unarchiver window makes it all wonky until it opens again.

Sexy!
Yay!:D:D
Is it Leopard only or will it work with Tiger too? :)
All of these Interface Builder made HUD modifications are Leopard only, as they use system resources only available in Leopoard... :/
Damn… it doesn't work! Exactly like vlc HUD style. :'(

Looks great but… I HATE HUD!!!

Are you on Tiger?
This looks great.
Nice... I think that the HUD interface is appropriate for a small background utility app like The Unarchiver.

Edit: Is it purposely supposed to change the app to Always on Top?

the only thing I hate about all these HUD releases (besides me not being able to use it) is that fugly growbox. Nice work
Ah, so it was you who did this. Thanks.

EDIT: you could link to your post like so: http://wakaba.c3.cx/sup/kareha.pl/1151796773/402
since wakaba.c3.cx/sup/pathtourl/l50 just shows the last 50 posts.

SUPER-EDIT: off-topic, but if someone wanted too, you could specify a range of posts with kareha.
e.g. wakaba.c3.cx/sup/pathtourl/1-25

I notice this behaviour with the VLC HUD mod as well. The player is always ontop (even if fullscreen)... Not to bad with this little app, but not that good with VLC ;)

Anyway, thanks for this release... I love it :)

HUDs can ONLY be Always On Top
I'm sorry but not everything has to be a damn HUD window now. Plus your using a glossy HUD rather than the typical flat HUD.

true, but i agree with chrislee149 in that it works well for small apps like this. the vlc one is pretty, but not really ideal (but hey, vlc is extremely ugly so any improvement is welcomed)
what the hell - AWESOME!
Very nice :b
Thank's everyone, I've been using it for a while now and get excited when I download new archives. :P I'm glad you all like it too.

Look's like most questions got answered that I would've if I were around, so cool.

@vkeios: thanks updated the link.

@Seeq: glossy HUD? I didn't see an option for more than one HUD style? Where have you seen this?

ps. I just noticed I took those window shots before I started using Smooth Stripes in Leopard, gross.

OT, but can anyone help me get The Unarchiver to to automatically unzip files in the downloads folder? having to manually unzip these things kind of defeats the purpose of the app.
Okay, please excuse my nubyness :o But what is the point in the unarchiver ? I thought leopard had a built in thing that supports most file formats.
wow! very nice :thumbsup::thumbsup:

The Unarchiver still supports more than leopard, such as rars, and a bunch of other obscure archive formats.

@Ji: I'm not quite sure I don't let things open without my doing it, but does safaris "open safe files" not work for you? It should work fine if The Unarchiver is set to the default app for the file, as for files from places other than Safari, I'm not sure.
