[10.5/6 Dock + Exposé] Glass Dock (Updated)

Download on deviantART
Glass Dock
- "Glass" style 2D dock to match menus
- "Glass" style Exposé borders
- White inverse Exposé hover background
- Simplified stack arrow and separator to match Dock Exposé menus
- New! Alternative iTunes-style Exposé borders
This is my first release here so I hope you enjoy!
Updates
1.3: Included the iTunes-style Exposé borders (dubbed iSposé) I was using during development as an alternative option. I originally removed them because I thought glass was more consistent and because I didn't like the way the text and window shadow overlapped it.
1.3.1: Included images for Graphite menus, forgot to add before release
1.4: Included "Glass"-style stack icons as requested by *PhantomHelix

Thanks. I've become rather a fan of the 3D dock myself recently, perhaps I'll make a variant.

This is great! Very similar to: http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16798526
Was wondering if there's any way to use your dock in such a fashion, as in getting rid of the left and right dock borders and using GeekTool to "extend" it to the edges of the screen like the thread I linked to. (because there are limitations to the other release
)
If not, oh well, but dang this is a sweet release!

Sorry, but I believe iTALiANiCK02's "dock" is just the Mirage dock with GeekTool displaying an image behind it. If I were to create a similar release using the source files it would almost certainly suffer the same "limitations", not to mention I'd be creating an almost identical release to his.

The dock uses the same file for both so it should work fine. If you're having problems copying the files, you might have to delete the originals first and then copy the new ones. The Finder seems to have a problem with authority when it comes to overwriting protected files ![]()

Was wondering if the highlights that are used when you right click a dock icon can be themed. Mine still appear to be the plain graphite.
Thanks!

Ah thanks, I figure they are probably controlled by the ArtFile.bin since most other highlights throughout the system are.

the images for the highlight are in the resources folder, but i tried changing them like 100 times, and it some how always spawns the blue / graphite image.

I managed to do it, albeit there are some limitations and involved some serious resource cutting and modding but it looks pretty dece to me:

The Exposé menus can be modified using the ecab and ecm files, the contextual menus are drawn with ArtFiles.

That was exactly what I wanted to do. Make it like your dock but with an actual dock behaviour (meaning without an overlap feature). Hope you guys don't mind. I just took the best of both worlds and made it totally cool. :p
I just removed the borders to FuelledbyEspresso's dock, created a png of the Dock.BG, used GeekTool to "stick" them to the dock borders until the end of the screen and voila!
Granted it's not perfect either (the black gradient is a little off depending what wallpapers you use, wish I could fix that but tinkering with the opacity in GeekTool doesn't help much, because it looks different from wallpaper to wallpaper) and if any icon is added to the dock, which I don't usually, then the dock shrinks and it looks distorted.
Anyway some pics detailing the process:
Borderless Glass Dock
Resources for GeekTool (made with Photoshop with Glass Dock's resources)

Final "DockPanel" :p:
Limitations: (there's no overlap except at the corners)
1-If I add an icon to the dock
2-If I use certain wallpapers
--
And behold:

You should read carefully what I mentioned.
I said Expose HOVER is what seems to be missing, not Expose BORDER.![]()
