[Bowtie] Curl theme mod? [REQ]
Hi everyone,
I love the look of the Curl theme for Bowtie by infinisedesign. Super sleek! However, I was wondering if there was a way to change the theme to have the artist and song name stay on screen rather than have it fade out to the rating? I never rate my songs outside of iTunes (which has the half-stars mod enabled, which Bowtie ignores anyay).
Here's what it looks like after the song title has scrolled past; the default behavior:
Here's what I'd like it to look like:
I could probably mod this myself, but I don't really know where to start. Any tips, ideas?
Thanks!

I would love for someone to make this mod too. i found it very peculiar that the rating was the constant view and the title was only displayed at song change. Can someone make this so the title is the standard display and the ratings show up when the title is clicked or something along those lines?
Also, a bottom right corner mod would be cool too ![]()

I have a poor implementation of this — basically it displays the artist all the time, with no ratings at all.
Minor problem with my modded text-only version: long track and/or artist titles run on over the album art when on the right. Cuts off on the left as it should. Will have a look at fixing if it's important to anyone.
No Ratings version.
No text or ratings version.
EDIT: If you came here from SmokingApples, please take a look look at the original theme too... here.

@dr.vox nice job! really close. I'm curious as to why the song scrolling doesn't work anymore? Also if the song title is too long, the text begins to hit the limit and starts to fade off.
What parts of the code/script are you modifying?

Re: [Bowtie] Curl theme mod? [REQ]
Well basically, as I understand a truly minuscule amount of JavaScript, with which this is written, I removed the part of the code which tells Bowtie to scroll the song info until it has all been shown, after which it fades to ratings.
And yeah, sorry, the limit is about 200px, iirc. Like I said, it's a really shoddy two-minute job, I just did it as a temporary solution for you, until someone with a bit better understanding of the way the skin works can do something for you.
I'm sure it'd be really easy to redefine the container's limits, but I'm quite intimidated by the way the script works and as such I'm not very comfortable or sure of changing or adding to it too much.
Can't remember where exactly I modified, but it'll probably have been one of the .js files and the .css or .html.

That'll be quite a bit more difficult, but I'll give it a go later.
EDIT: Nope. I have an idea, and think I've almost done it, but I need to edit the mask images, which I can't do at the minute as I don't have Photoshop on OS X. If nobody's done it when I have, I'll give it another shot.

Im just running it like this along side Zukunft Condensed
Would look better if the ratings for Zukunft were on a third line below it.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting dr.vox's theme to work
The part that's supposed to be curled is still showing the rest of the cover instead
It looks like this
Is it something that I'm doing wrong? ![]()

Download Safari 4 or the latest WebKit. That's all (as it clearly states in the description).

Yeah, did the same for me whilst I was modding it but I assumed it was purely cos of the webkit. LikeDustin said, just download the latest Webkit.

Re: [Bowtie] Curl theme mod? [REQ]
Haha, well, I'd prefer to have it work
But, I suppose I can't, since Safari is telling me that I can't upgrade to Safari 4 on my type of Mac![]()
Oh well....

Re: [Bowtie] Curl theme mod? [REQ]
SmokingApples just linked to this thread in their 10 Beautiful Bowtie Themes post and listed it as 'Curl mod'. I can only assume they're linking to one/both of my mods... :s
So I feel obliged to link to the original Curl theme... here.

Re: [Bowtie] Curl theme mod? [REQ]
is there a way to mod the bowtie Curl theme so that the text keeps on moving and doesn't dissapear?
So not only on song change.
Could someone make a mod like this?

Re: [Bowtie] Curl theme mod? [REQ]
It's definitely possible but it sounds quite complex and will involve more JavaScript than CSS, I think. Again, I'll take a look but I really doubt I'll have the ability. Might wanna ask some experienced Bowtie theme makers like matthewrex.
