[MS Extension] Five-Column SpringBoard 0.59

Finally available on Cydia through the Ste Packaging repo. It's a community source so you should just get it as an upgrade if you installed any of the test versions I made available.
For the uninformed, Five-Column SpringBoard is a MobileSubstrate extension that adds a fifth column to your home screen. It looks really nice with nano-sized icon themes like Matte Nano, Abeo, and Pump. This requires firmware 2.2 to install.
Special thanks to the awesome designers who make the themes I use with this, Ste for finding all the bugs and issues with my packaging, and the people who tested this and gave their feedback. UPDATE: Wow, I'm an idiot. Also, a big thanks to Plizzo who did the awesome icon for FCSB Toggle. ![]()

Also, in case you didn't hear about it through the Twitter: I'm going to be taking a hiatus from the MobileSubstrate world to be focusing on learning the iPhone SDK to hopefully get some complete apps out by the end of the summer. Don't worry, I'm still going to work on getting Frostbite in an acceptable state for it to be merged into WinterBoard. If you're interested in following what I'm up to, check out my iPhone page, and remember, the kate is a lie.

edit: 0.59 is up.

Those repos are the reason why I am no longer giving any public test versions of anything. Some of them have cooperated and removed the package; some of them have not. I don't have the time and money to lawyer up, so I just kept 0.56 to myself until today when I finally finished everything up.
Now that 0.56 is available, anyone who installed it from the other repos should automatically be upgraded to the one from Ste's repo if they kept the bundle ID intact.

Hide it with SBSettings; I have it in my SBSettings dock, so it's not in the way and still accessible if I want to run it.
Otherwise you can remove it manually by either running rm -r /Applications/FCSB\ Toggle.app or by moving it elsewhere.

Good job! I have one question - is it possible to build a MS Extension or something which will
automatically make all icons smaller?

There is a theme available with A LOT of original nano icons.
It's called Mini Icons
Maybe you like that?

One of my friends did something like that but he hasn't released it yet. I still prefer using real nano-sized icon themes over resizing existing icons though.

I thought about it and I'm pretty sure the main issue I had with it was that I couldn't make the device respring when you pressed the toggle. Otherwise the same code could be used in the SBSettings toggle.
I just put it in my SBSettings dock, so it's just as accessible.

Re: [MS Extension] Five-Column SpringBoard 0.59
this is working great, is there any future chance of getting rid of that bug where the icons disappear when scrolling through pages?

Besides the toggle, what else is new in this release? (It seems to provide TWELVE pages of icons rather than just nine, which is awewome -- but I've never seen anybody discuss this.)

Re: [MS Extension] Five-Column SpringBoard 0.59
This forum says that FCSB version 0.56 is hosted at the Ste Packaging repository on Cydia. However, I can't find it there. Instead, version "0.56-4" is hosted at "SOS iPhone Cydia", which is listed as a French Repository.
Is the latter the current version, and is it from a valid place?

Re: [MS Extension] Five-Column SpringBoard 0.59
@TaylorReeves: I spent several hours working on the bugs in FCSB and never figured out how to fix that. Can't guarantee it'll ever be fixed.
@hardeerr: I have no idea why you now have more SpringBoard pages, and get rid of the SOS iPhone repo. Their repo has a malformed Packages file that causes crashes sometimes, and they host a questionable version of FCSB that I have not confirmed to work. With the particularities of the uninstall/upgrade process, I would only trust Ste's package as we have thoroughly tested it out.

Re: [MS Extension] Five-Column SpringBoard 0.59
Sakurina, thanks, I got rid of that other repo.
I can't be the only person who suddenly has twelve pages of apps, can I? If you say that this new feature didn't come from FCSB then I'm really stumped. I believe the extra pages appeared after I got that unapproved copy of FCSB and resprang. Here are the other changes that occurred at that same time:
1. The "dots" that represent the pages are smaller, I think, than they used to be (so as to fit twelve across).
2. Each page previously had 20 apps on it (five columns, four rows), but after the respring each page had 16 apps on it -- three rows of five plus one in the last row (followed by four empty slots). The additional apps that had been on the pages got pushed to later pages.
I hope somebody reads this and recognizes what happened. (I don't think I've ever experienced a mystery upgrade in the 25+ years I've been using computers!)
