[APP RELEASE] Cloak v0.1
Hey, guys, Lostgame here. A long time ago I'd talked about releasing a themeing app for Leopard. While I was initially excited, I lost a lot of what I wanted to do with the app. Months later, I'm giving out my first public release - absolutely free. Basically, the app allows you to change the color and texture of your windows, in a one-button solution.
It's stupid simple, it's foolproof and it works. So without further ado, I give you Cloak. Time to selflessly give back to the community I love so much. ![]()
Download!
Some things to note:
-do NOT move the 'Themes' folder from root, unless you're prepared to have to fix everything yourself. I'll offer no support for people who do that. Themes from different folders will come eventually. This is an alpha release. =P
-you can check out the way it works from 'Show Package Contents.' It's a simple applescript that fixes your 'SArtFile.bin,' and the original for 10.5.6 is included so you can always go back to it.
-on that note, this is for 10.5.6 only. I will support further versions going onwards, but never backwards releases.
-this is not meant to be a replacement for Façade, ShapeShifter or any of that stuff. This is a standalone app to change the colors and textures of the windows in Mac OS Leopard. Do not ask for any more features yet, I'm still planning.
If you're feeling generous and would consider donating a couple bucks, you can do so at 'payment@flipconversion.com', that's my paypal.
Thanks a lot!
-Nic

the very cool app. the only problem I see is which is really not a problem. you can only change the color you can't add anything to the Window like shine on top. you really cant give the window any character. like For example look at the theme lie 1.1 > http://www.grabup.com/uploads/1e347bb6d … png?direct

Hey TURN, just to make sure, this only changes the color of the window and not any window shine at the top? For example, I have a glare at the top of my window, like the one from technici, would that be changed after using this?

Hey dude, even if it's "simple," this app is amazing! I'm wondering now, could you release a white window theme? (Or instructions on how to create a window texture.) And can anyone figure out how to change the text color? Then, it'd be perfect.
Thank you. I am absolutely loving this.

Haha, wow, I wake up and see 14 replies! Answers to questions:
how does one proceed to make new themes ?
There's no simple way right now, but there will be. Essentially the '.cloak' files in the /Themes/ folder are renamed SArtFile.bin files - each of them with a different window color or texture. 'nuff said.
could you release a white window theme?
Sure could. Gimme a day. Any more questions or comments I'd be happy to help! Glad you guys like it!

Re: [APP RELEASE] Cloak v0.1
Thanks, I would appreciate a white theme. Here's a comment: I can't use this with iGual's menubar... Why not (I'm sure it's the SArtFile.bin, but that's all I know), and how can I use both at the same time?

Right now, no, and unless I add it as a feature I can see that being really difficult to add, but that is obviously in my plans. It completely replaces your SArtFile.bin so it's kind of difficult. I've got an idea though.

When I think about it, this program would be really sweet with menubar color mods.
Anyway, it's fine. I'm just happy I can finally change the color of my windows.

This looks great, but how easy is it to revert back to system defaults if i decide i don't like it?

Just as easy as it is to change it - the simple push of a button. The default theme is included, so if anything fraks up, you've got the original. ![]()
nice!!! this is a brilliant start for themers everywhere.
Thanks a ton, and I am going to open-source this, as of tonight, so we can all have the chance to improve on it. Not only is this a good start, but most importantly, it's a free start.
The biggest problem with themeing last generation was that it was entirely based around one, pay-for-use app. And the 'pay-for-use' is the worst part. Eventually, I hope this to be our simple, free theming solution. For now, it's very simplistic, but eventually it will grow, etc, and seeing the positive response just makes me want to try harder. Let's make this for the community, guys! ![]()
