In all skins I did, I used animator.js to create simple animations. Look into an animated skin's bundle to see how simple it's done (see, even a designer like me was able to use this framework lol).

AsceticMonk: There is already a file inside the bowTie .zip that tells you how to create themes for the app.

We have one of the greatest CSS engine at our disposal, and you don't even use it ? :p CSS3 Animations are the way to go
