[WIP] KISS me [On Hold]
First things first: this is a Mobile Me theme.
Another one?, you shall ask. The thing is the two themes currently being developed aren't just "another" theme, but a complete theme. I think this is unnecessary given how good Leopard can look only replacing buttons, scrollbars, etc. I have started to make such a theme, named KISS me: KISS for "Keep It Simple, Stupid" and me for Mobile Me, of course.

As I said, you both are trying to make a complete system replacement, that is, a completely new theme (based on the same resources, yes). I am trying to replace only a few parts of the default leopard theme.

It's not like anyone can stop anyone else from making this, short of banning him, that would be stupid.

Frameworks are application independent, so unless you wanna go mod every app's nib in your computer, and eventually fail to mod Finder, i suggest sticking to themes.

Muchos gracias for this initiative - and pliiiiiiz keep it very simple and only use made-in-apple elements. NO susumu's scroll bar, just use the one from iTunes 7 if you want (or even better : aqua background and iTunes 7 scroller).
I'm not even sure you should try to mod safari's and finder's buttons. The color scheme of leopard gray and mobile me blueish don't feet together so well.

itunes 7 scrollbars don't fit the UI ... they don't even fit in itunes!!!!

Yea, please don't use iTunes scroll bars, they look awful. Kevin Andersson made some really nice ones that suit MobileMe.

If you are going to keep it simple, please don't theme the white plastic buttons. Several apps have been modded to get that look (think of the super awesome Transmit mod by Jonas) and it would be a real pita to have to get them right another time.

True.
So we would agree on that:
- aqua "push" buttons
- list headers
- push menus
- tabs, but in light/grey tone, not in the blueish one
Additionaly:
- maybe menu/selection gradients but beware of doing something too shiny
- scroll bars
And I got to say I find iTunes 7 scroll bars + aqua background to work very well:

Yea, I like them. I like how unimposing they are.
I like the original ones Kevin Andersson did.
I like them both (Maybe prefer the lighter version?) But think they'd be better with a little less gloss (not too much though, or the darker version would start to look like the iTunes scroll bars ).
For me the iTunes scroll bars don't suit the MobileMe buttons. They have gradients but no gloss at all.

i don't think there will be any 'best' mobileme scrollbars. since apple didn't provide any, why not just leave them alone and people just use graphite with mobileme. that is, if you want a 'pure' mobileme theme. personally, i can live with that over some distracting, unsightly crap that will foul up the theme.

Seeing your requests, I think the best way to go is to do 3 versions:
- Barebones (only replace what the aforementioned framework replaces)
- Basic (+scrollbars)
- Simple (+traffic lights and toolbar buttons, maybe menu highlights etc)
