Tap To Unlock buttons

Simply replace:

Code:

 /System/Library/Frameworks/TelephonyUI.framework/bottombarknobgray.png

with one of the following images,  then open:

Code:

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/English.lproj/SpringBoard.strings

and replace "slide to unlock" with "  " (two spaces, minus the quotes). Bam, instead of sliding to unlock, you'll be able to tap to unlock.

Clever idea, though I'm partial to the sliding. smile_thumbup

Could you do the string removal in Customize?

You might wanna take a look at this, for the corners.  You're actually doing the opposite of what he's talking about, making the button rounded edges smaller than the box it resides in, but take a look.

mind sharing the version that you posted on the screenshot thread (blurry camo)?

also can you do those "sliders" without caps i.e. tap to unlcok?

thanks!

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

will this also work with other "Slide to..." options. such as "slide to cancel" when it's syncing with iTunes?  will changing it to two spaces and changing the associated png change it?

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

I made one that looks more like an Apple-made button: I used the graphics from a "Cancel" button and matched the font exactly so it should look like an authentic Apple Button... I think it came out rather nice.

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

I thought the slide gesture was designed specifically to stop the iPhone from becoming unlocked in your pocket? hmm

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

Since the 'touch' gestures need specifically a finger — or something that conducts electricity — that's not a problem smile

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

Yeah, the short amount of time I used Tap to Unlock, it never once unlocked in my pocket.

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

It unlocked all the time in my pocket...
During one whole day of school I usually come home with 80-90% battery, the one day I used the Tap to unlock button I came back with 50%. sad

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

Damn, I'd love to have a tap to unlock button with Digital Camouflage pattern ala Call of Duty 4. I tried making one myself, but it came out horribly. Anyone want to give it a shot?

Last I played CoD4 was in....say...December, but my general knowledge of the Army tells me that they use ACUPAT. If it's not then I can use another one, I have a crapload of patterns, just specify what it looked like.

Re: Tap To Unlock buttons

@Fadakar: I can't stand the army. I however LOVE the new pixeled pattern that they're using for their camo. It's so awesome.

I'm not a fan of the military either, but I have a huge thing for camouflage, I have a whole folder of camouflage me and a friend made in photoshop from scratch.
