[10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

Snow Leopardees, download the resources here (or here) and follow the self installation guide to get Mirage running on your system!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Version 1.0.3 has fixed the permissions error, so you don't need to type in the shell script any more!

Hey everyone!
This is my first customization of pretty much anything, but it's pretty good. big_smile

Mirage is a replacement for ClearDock by Unsanity (which isn't Leopard compatible), and it makes the Dock clear.
http://dockulicious.com/uploads/156/mirage.png

It's an installer in a disk image, which can make your Dock, Separator, Indicators and Stacks completely invisible. There's also an uninstaller (of course!), and an FAQ. It works with both 2D and 3D docks.

But I've already said way too much. So download it and enjoy! cool

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mirage now reverted to version 1.0, and the disk image has been completely reworked.
I'm terribly sorry Jonas for using your Pry icons, but you never replied to the PM I sent you a while back, so I hope you're cool with this. If not it's totally ok... smile

Changes made are now documented. See them in "Documentation" under "Extras".

I appreciate your efforts here, it's a decent release, however It's rather similar to 0dud's Clear Dock 1.1 http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16782560 also, it would also be nice if you included the resources for the dock along with the installers. Thanks for the release mate!

Re: [10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

I'm sorry. I know it's a duplicate, but Clear Dock is apparently not quite compatible with Stacks in Leopard 10.5.2 (according to the creator), and this one is... hmm

If it becomes too much of a hassle, I'm willing to delete it.

There are instructions in the Clear Dock thread on how to make it work with 10.5.2 Stacks.

I see...
Alright. If a lot of people decide they don't like it, I can just delete this thread. Not a problem.

Clear dock never worked anyway for me so this is a good release.

Re: [10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

I've updated Mirage to version 2.1.
It improves the Dock Switcher app and makes the disk image less cluttered. smile
Feel free to download and comment.

Before installing, read about the problems it gave me.

I'm really sorry to hear about the problems Mirage has caused you. I didn’t know it affected some people that badly.

Luckily for you, I've updated Mirage to version 2.2, which fixes all these problems. The unclickable dead zone is now gone. smile

I know you're probably not going to download it, seeing the amount grief it's caused you, but maybe others will be brave enough. tongue

Can you release the resources?  I'd prefer to use this dock with docklibrary

Re: [10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

You wouldn't be able to. There are more resources than docktheme managing apps can take in (usually 4 files for 3D docks, and I don't know how many for 2D). There are images besides the main ones that you have to edit, and some you have to delete, and having any other way but installer would just be a hassle.

Tell me, everyone, if I released this as an app, would anyone use it?

Re: [10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

As much as I want to use this, I think I will be passing.  It looked and worked great until that one problem started showing up.  I'd rather not risk it again.  :-P  I think it could have been a mixture of your dock, Candybar, Onyx, and Secrets all having access to my dock files that did it (best way I could think of to word it).  Only reason I can think of for it to behave so oddly with me.  =\

Re: [10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

It happens sometimes, sorry.
Logging out and back in usually does the trick. If not, just reinstall and that should fix it.

Re: [10.5 + 10.6 Dock] Mirage (ClearDock replacement)

I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Have tried logging out as well, still getting the glitches.

I get an error saying I don't have permission to run the clean up script, even though the permissions for the Dock.app and the resources folder allow me to read and write.
