About firmware 1.1.4 (or 2.0), straight from Orange France.

Our friends from MacBidouille (and its english version hardmac.com) got this news from Orange...

According to Quentin:

I am sending you an email to announce a survey by Apple.

A call to Orange France customer service gave some confirmations, some answers, some expected, others less so ...

-- Update 2 (this would be the correct name, not 1.1.4), will bring new features:
* Support for Flash, files with extension .Docx
* Adding a mini file manager
* Adding a "clipboard" to manage copied and pasted text, and send files to the clipboard via email or bluetooth
* iClips Management (is this the name of apps distributed via iTunes?)
* A more complete bluetooth manager
* iChat accessible only via wifi

-- But it would not bring:
* Management of MMS
* Video capture
* Editing of office files

It is almost impossible to know if this is reliable information from an employee of Orange who carried out this survey ... .
But one thing is certain, the survey was commissioned by Apple ... And the updating of firmwire will be out in a few days ...

Good news hu? cool

Interesting...about time they addressed those issues...namely a complete BlueTooth stack, and Flash.

Hopefully this is true..

Sounds wonderful if it's real. Flash support would make a lot of sense as a tie-in for the SDK since it's easy and multi-platform. I like the speculation that the SDK is Adobe AIR or tied-into AIR.

Copy and paste will finally make it a real practical PDA.

These two lines confuse me. What sort of "survey"? And was this person just talking to an ordinary-level service rep? Because if so, i wouldn't believe a word of it as they are told nothing until the customers need to know it.

Because I am tired of people posting links just so they maybe can get a front-page submission. my "eh, no?" is just as meaningful to this thread as the "digg this please".

So, if it is real, how much do you think it would cost for us iPod touch users to get it smile_zipped .

I'd buy the January update if it means free update from then on... But I'll be steaming mad if they try to charge for more updates.

I believe that this update if true, is kind of a new step for BOTH iPhone & iPod Touch. There is no way in HELL they would charge the iPod Touch users and not the iPhone!!! Apple might disappoint us though, but it'll be like "what da hell?"

If true, this update will not cost a cent for current users, mark my words.
The reason the update was $20 is basically Apple's "stress test" for whatever they call their service for downloading (and, more importantly, paying for) applications. 5 apps for $20 is a reasonable price when they start unveiling individual apps for $3-5.
Also, Apple wouldn't be dumb enough to force users to pay for a new update that allows users to give them money.

Naaaaahhh!!! are you kiddin me?!! i dont wanna bring the 1.1.3 topic all over again.. But i actually dont believe that Apple would be stupid to release a new update for Both iPhone & iPod Touch AT THE SAME TIME, but choose to charge iPod Touch users ONLY...

It's fake guys:

Update: According to a recent Mac Rumors forum post, Kelly, the originator of the thread on the forum (and developer of Tiny-Code), has admitted that he lied about the iPhone 1.1.4 update and SDK information. He writes, "Tiny-Code never had any relations with Apple, Inc. or any other division of Apple. Never had the new firmware or any pre-SDK pack. Certainly never signed any NDA." You can read the full post over on the Mac Rumors forum.

Re: About firmware 1.1.4 (or 2.0), straight from Orange France.

I've had my suspicions from the start of all this 1.1.4 talk mainly because Apple stated that 1.1.3 was bringing in support for SDK apps... so why they would need to release ANOTHER upgrade for SDK apps is beyond me.

Yes Flash would be nice, but I don't see that coming for a while... and it may BE in 1.1.4 but I don't see 1.1.4 coming THIS month.
