Word 2008 wood background replacement.

Here's a wood replacement for the Microsoft Office (Word) 2008. By default its a plain light blue background for text editing, but becomes wood when editing stationary templates, etc. With this replacement text editing now shares the same aesthetics as the others. Nothing special overall. Just a little mod I wanted to share. ![]()

Looks awesome, the only thing is that the preview suggests that it's glossy. Maybe remove the gloss from the preview?

Is there a way to take the backgrounds from the "Notes" layout in Word 2008 and apply them to the standard background?

There's no real magic here. All I did was navigate to the application's resources folder (right click app icon > view package contents) and replace the themes default image files with new images of the same name.
With that, you can pretty much mod any visual element within an application. ![]()

I mean, where is the "top" file placed in the application, does it meet with the bottom half or what?

Yeah, there doesn't seem to much logic behind it. They are essentially tiled images, and I see nothing different between the top image and lower images, as long as its a pattern you're including. Good luck.

Actually, if you compare the top and bottom images closely you'll notice that the top one has a slight gradient that gives it some depth ![]()

I registered just to say thanks for this great modification. I'm a writer by profession and have always detested the ugly grey background colour in Word. Thanks so much, I really appreciate the change.

No problem. Fighting ugly UI seems to be a consistent theme in life. Glad I could help. I'm sure the bland solid colors don't do alot for comfort or inspiration.

nice!... Ive always liked wood textures, there should be more wood themes out there...
Seems its a very hard thing to perfect in a theme though.
PS- You should all be using iWork (or specifically Pages 09), its underrated in the world of Apple software.
I can't give it enough praise, compared to office 2008- its snappier, simpler, more advanced, more integrated with Mac, more... Maclike all over.
And it is cross compatible with the Office suite. Win Win.
