Application You Would Want
Hey,
I'm looking to develop an application for a project. I don't have that many ideas yet so your input would be great. Let me set some guidelines. I don't want little haxie type ideas. Something from a f7 application similar to the functionality of coversutra all the way to a application in the mainstay of your dock. Let this be your "my dream app" type thing.

Ugh... I knew I had some good ideas for things like this, but I don't know where they went...
Here's one I came up with now, as I digress from my work:
An app to keep one focused on the task. It focuses view on a single application. Hides the dock, disables command-tab and Expose. Quits certain applications that can be specified (for example, IM client). Can disable it, but need to click Yes to a few dialog box that appears and essentially ask "Are you on task?" This mode can be toggled with a hotkey.

barquee (http://www.fourminutemilesoftware.com/barquee/) ported to intel. it was a great itunes controller and doesn't run on intel.
onenote for the mac, or a similar free-canvas type note taker. I've tried every note application, and haven't found one I like as much as (gasp!) onenote.

I know a few people who'd kill for onenote for os x.
Personally I'd like a replaygain tool that writes the info into id3v2 tags. (the only one I can find does APE tags which mpd hates)

actually... I think a combined video/music/tv app like centerstage that actually works with NTSC or ATSC (North American) television would be awesome.
Or...
Something like Miro that searches the web for video and displays it like a standard video app (Quicktime/VLC etc.)

Re: Application You Would Want
I have 2 apps: 1 would be an app to easily display calendar and to-do info on the desktop (with a hopefully high degree of visual customizability). I think Anxiety has come closes to achieving the effect that I'd like for to-dos, only I'd much prefer more options such as the ability to pin to the desktop, and edit events as well.
My 2nd app would be a web development tool. I'd like it to focus on easily writing code (good syntax highlighting, snippets, collapsable bits, etc.), but I'd also like ti to be able to run/display dynamically generated pages (be able to interpret PHP, ruby, what-have-you). A third request for this app would be a new way of visually mapping and creating data similar to the way that quartz composer does, or the way that relational database programs generate visual models of the table relationships. This would enable you to logically order and sort data in a way that is not tied to any specific language or design scheme. The clincher would be if this could also be used to generate a working site based on the models so that it creates the right databases, tables, CSS, pages, etc. for you, but at the very least, it would be nice if you could have it create bare-bones structures based on the models.

A prefpane or completely hidden application that makes your Mac do an hourly chime just like back in the Mac OS 9 days. So far I only found a widget, but that's not very convient.
I'm dying for this!

Small light weight, and skinable music player. I hate the fact that the only really "usable" music player on the mac is iTunes, not that iTunes isn't pretty damn good, but it often feels rather bloated.

certainly would be good to have more development help if someone has free time and looking for a project. There is a ton more stuff behind the scenes at CenterStage than is publicly available in terms of development.

While a full on media center app that actually works would be nice, I would just like someone to come up with something that will give FrontRow 2 back the resume function for movies that are NOT imported into iTunes, i.e. the Movies Folder... like FrontRow 1 had. That would be my dream.

Here's another one.
Right now, I'm using an old printer with no Mac driver support. It's annoying because I have to send the file to a PC and print it over there. What'd be cool is an app to automate this:
1. "Print" as PDF (using built-in OS X function)
2. Move to public folder
3. Tell networked computer to print PDF file (This is the part that I this is probably impossible)

Re: Application You Would Want
I would seriously pay money for an optimized decompressor that could handle h.264 better than Quicktime or the equally lame ffmpeg version. When my dual core 1.83 GHz with a 128 MB dedicated video card cannot handle 1080p without dropping frames in heavy areas, and some guy running a single core 1.13 GHz with a 64 MB video card can using coreavc there is something terribly wrong with the world ![]()
My kingdom for some optimization!
Other than that, why not make another GTD app? There seem to be all the rage these days ![]()

You can already do this. Click on your clock in the menubar, go to date/time preferences, click on the clock tab and select announce the time on the hour. It does a voice, but I think you can download a chime sound and use that.

Oh, man! Yeah, this is the one that really needs to be done. I forgot about it. ![]()

That would be really nice. It may not be nice for theme developers, however; no one knows how hard it will be to reprogram Apple's new interface. ![]()
