Making the Finder Match iTunes...

I've successfully hacked the scroll bar and thumbs of iTunes into the Finder.

Still have more work to do to really polish it. But still

I like it better.

Re: Making the Finder Match iTunes...

BTW I just hacked the Extras.rsrc and didn't touch Extras2, or the "Aqua" theme part of the Extras. Nor am I giving it out. Not yet anyhow. Not that anyone here can't do what I just did with the iTunes resources and ThemePark and your graphics editor of choice.

Re: Making the Finder Match iTunes...

Let me clarify I said I wasn't giving it out yet. There is still things I need to polish.

Once it's done I am I sure I or someone on an Intel Mac can paste the crap over to the Extras2 file.

Just doing that was more of a PITA than I intended it to be.

Most of the OS Looks GREAT with them, but there are parts I want to still work out.

smile_thumbup It looks great. It makes the total feeling of Leopard more consistent. Hoping to see it released very soon.

Re: Making the Finder Match iTunes...

I've never really understood why people want the iTunes scrollbars, they're absolutely horrid. But options are nice at least.

I like them 10x better than the Aqua scroll bars. They are more subtle and sleeker.

And chicks dig them.

IMO they really clash with the list headers. Only thing that would stop me from using this... smile_zipped

The part that says "Name" in your screenshot, that's a list header.

Re: Making the Finder Match iTunes...

Actually, they look much better with the list headers in graphite. wink

Nice job.  I just replaced my extras files with the ones released elsewhere on the board by applefish-fr.

The iTunes scroll bars look better with the new Leopard style. But unless people find a way to get rid of all the other Aqua elements, like the list headers, it breaks consistency even more.

In this case it's definitely everything or nothing in my opinion.

Yeah.. I live in Mothman territory. Just 1/2 shy of Point Pleasant. But in the actual book it talks about happenstances in the area I live in too.

I am slightly short of being 35, and have been following the mothman tales since I was in grade school. Been to the Point Pleasant TNT area plenty of times.

Not that I am some big UFO nut or whatever. I am just interested because of the locality of it.

I have talked to Linda Scarberry, one of the many original mothman sighters a few times. I believe she honestly believes she saw what she did see. She said she felt fear like she had never felt before. Almost as if the being had the ability to control that part of her brain.

Weird.

I don't think it's possibly be any LESS consistent. Unless you add MORE theme elements

At least now all the scroll bars and scroll thumbs match. Something very noticeable.

Re: Making the Finder Match iTunes...

Why? Garageband is a HORRIBLE GUI mess. Have Graphite on? Too bad you have to use the stoplights instead cause it uses it's own internal images. tongue

It's cheats like this that used set the Mac apart from Windows. MS always had a GUI that wasn't consistent. Apple did. OS X has now gotten to the MS level of crappy GUI splattered everywhere with no consistency.

The fact that we can't get the Finder to match iTunes consistently has pissed me off. So I thought HMM.. maybe I could make iTunes and the other iApps match the Finder, and hack Smooth Stripes into it.

But then there is that code signing thing. It would probably BREAK iTunes.

I am really hating Apple now more than ever about their GUI. If even they can call it that anymore.

Not trying to sound like a Drama queen, or whatever. Even though I didn't like Aqua from day one. At least 10.0 was CONSISTENT.

Since then Apple has been trying to throw as many different GUI Ideas into one melting pot that just doesn't fit. Which I could handle if the user was able to fix it.

But that isn't possible.
