I dig the new dock's reflection, but like most of you - that "scurve" is truly a scurvy thing. So, I made a grey-black gradient, keeping the reflection. Then, I altered frontline.png cause I hated that white line. That's when I realized the "glowing ball" effect was also reflected and that was a bit silly. So, I altered those.

After it all came together, it looked a little like this :

Since I've seen a lot of these mods in the past few days, and I only spent about 20 minutes putting this all together, I figured I may as well include the working PSD files (I use layer styles for everything, so modding it in Photoshop should take but a few seconds, really) I used for making these suckers. They're very small and I think the whole package is only about 32k.

So, it's an open source mod

EDIT :
I've updated the .zip file to split all the indicator PSDs into separate files and the template_scurve file includes all dock sizes in one file. They should be much easier to work with this way. I've also included updated instructions working w/those files.

Oh, and I made the glowing balls a little closer to the original color/size, so they're not quite as jarring this time around.

So I tave to ask...do these mods effect the dock only when it's at the bottom as oposed to the sides? i tried moving my dock down to the bottom for after all of this time, I just couldn't get used it being there.

#%@^% my fingger seem to have turned into hot dogs. Any idea how tough it is to type using hotdogs as fingers?

Well, Apple did make that change at the very last minute (only in the GM build, apparently) that turns off all the reflection/glass/perspective stuff if the dock is moved to the side. There's that Terminal command one can use to turn all that stuff off when it's at the bottom, so maybe you could set the flag to "YES" instead of "NO" in that command when the dock is on the side, and it would turn the perspective/glass/reflection on.

Just a guess, really. But, it might look weird.

I figured out a few other fun little effects - like making the reflection fade out into the black at the bottom. It looks like this :

Then I made it so the top part fades into transparency, so it fits with any desktop image you might be using :

Anyone feel like posting a full res screenshot of any of these in action? The 'bigger picture' can make quite a difference.
