I replaced the image and restarted and see no change. Any idea why?

Open up terminal and do the following:

sudo cp scurve-l.png /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/

killall Dock

looks great. Not all can use this though. I need to modify my -xl version. I'm on 24" new iMac, cause this image thing is size specific.

Again, good job

Okay I figured it out. My computer uses the scurve-m.png file. I bet that's also why some people have different vanishing points too.

Re: [10.5 Dock] Lucidus Atra

@elin you could use Onyx to view hidden files and folders. You will have that folder, otherwise you will get a nobelprice for running your computer without an OS big_smile

Cocktail is not yet 10.5 ready.

You could also try to hit 'command+shift+g' that will bring up a dialog. Type in the path you want to go to and voila.

Re: [10.5 Dock] Lucidus Atra

But that shouldn't be hidden anyway!
from desktop go into the hardrive that you have your system installed on, then system/library/coreservices
then control+click (or right click)on dock, double click on contents and replace the image. Make sure to make a back up of the original

This looks cool, but is there anyway of getting something like this that's not for the 3D Self mode. One that replaces the dark dock that comes out when you kill the 3D Shelf? hmm

Yeah there is. The files are located in the same place. With the 2D dock, you can even manage the corners smile

I've been able to change the corners, but what's the file for the dark image that fills the inside of the dock?

And by the way, your Akuma looks kick ass, I'm more of a Ken guy cool

Re: [10.5 Dock] Lucidus Atra

I really like this, but I have one complaint, the edges are to sharp. And it makes the dock look a bit jagged on the left and right edges.
Like this:

This is the original scurve:
http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/6075/bild1wf8.png
And this is your modified one:
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/903/bild2fg7.png

So you see yours is much sharper. Now, it's not that big of a deal smile But I thought that it'd be an easy fix, so I just wanted to point it out smile Not to be rude or anything. Love this mod of the dock.

Agreed 100% - I would absolutely use it if the jaggies could just get remedied. Thumbs up on the mod all around, though.

Agreed about the sharpness, too. I downloaded it, but immediately reverted the dock because the edges are too sharp. Other than that, it looks nice.

Thanks for the update, but at smaller sizes the jagged edges remain:

Is it something I'm doing wrong perhaps?

It's most likely not you, The Dock app is taking a flat image and tilting it for perspective, this means that it has to alter the image which is going to naturally result in lost/altered pixels. It is most apparent because of the black "stroke" that he gave his image. It may look better if he were to render the image at a higher DPI but I doubt it. Most likely Apple chose the style they did because it hid the pixels better.

And the one pixel white line only exaggerates the jaggies.

I'm sorry, I know you posted them somewhere. But where can I get the dock indicators you're using here? smile
