Maybe you should try the Yahoo! Widget Engine Weather widget. It has wind on hoverover. I think it has some more information aswell. Just a tip.

I have to admit, I've never really understood the craze for weather widgets. Just look out the window ![]()

pinky, looking out the window doesn't give me a forecast with conditions, highs and lows for tomorrow and the next few days. i ride a motorcycle, too, and 'specially with ze rainy season upon us now, being able to decide whether to take the bike or the train to work the next day just by activating dashboard is pretty sweet.

Yeah, I walk to work since gas prices are ridiculous. So, knowing the forecast, current conditions etc. is a good thing.
I usually use a combo of the default weather widget and the RadarInMotion widget (which also shows severe weather advisories).

It's not hard at all to tweak the colors of these things just as long as you have some sort of decent image editor. "show package contents" will become your best friend. ![]()

A great alternative to a widget is Alwin Troost's Weather Dock: There are loads of info-display options (show or hide as much info as you want), status-bar menu, and dynamic dock and desktop icons which can be customized with its own icon editor.
Oh, yeah...and it's FREE!

EDIT: Any weather icons made for ObjectDock, Yz'Dock, etc. can be swapped for default set. I've been using sevensteps2heaven's set, but there are hundreds more on DA.

+1 widescape weather widget by Yahoo widgets. Some people really hate to run the Yahoo Widget Engine because they find it eats up system resources. I am not one of those people. I love the look of the widget-- it's 100% customizable. That inclues the icons, words, borders, background and opacity. As someone mentioned, on hover you get humidity, wind, visibility and a timestamp so you know when the forecast was last updated.

I'm a loyal fan of mini weather widget for Konfabulator (for some reason I hate calling it "yahoo widget engine
) I was using it back in my windows days and now still using it on my Mac, this is to me the best looking widget ever made for Konfab
(World clock pro being the second best
)

default widget uses a lot of processor time when you load dashboard,
This looks ok but it seems it's UK only:

Is there a way that one could not only change the source in which the default widget gets its information, but possibly change the weather icons used?

They don't let you tweak the inner divider graphics in the new YWE weather widget, so it looks awful & unreadable when you want to use a really dark custom background color ![]()
